On Wednesday, June 7th at approximately 3:40 AM, Officer J. Schwarz observed an individual, wearing a hooded sweatshirt with the hood pull up over his head and a surgical mask, attempting to forcefully remove a Pride flag which was affixed to the electronic borough announcement board located just off of Kinderkamack Road. Investigation determined that the 31-year-old Emerson resident was under the influence of alcohol and that the criminal mischief was done without purpose to intimidate members of the protected class. The individual was ultimately charged with Criminal Mischief and is pending a first appearance in Emerson Municipal Court. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
