The Emerson Police Department was alerted by a local retail store loss prevention team to a shoplifting in progress involving numerous suspects. Officers J. Schwarz, J. Chichizola and Sergeant C. Bova responded and were directed by loss prevention towards the suspects as they exited the store. Three (3) suspects (18-year-old female from Queens, NY | 21-year-old female from Queens, NY | 19-year-old male from East Meadow, NY) were arrested and subsequently placed into custody. Loss Prevention provided an itemized receipt for the stolen items totaling approximately $1501. The suspect’s vehicle was located, seized and searched with an approved search warrant, which resulted in recovering approximately $5,776 in stolen merchandise from various locations and jurisdictions. All three defendants were charged, with multiple counts of Shoplifting (3rd degree), Conspiracy to Commit Shoplifting (3rd Degree), Possession of antishoplifting devices and Receiving Stolen Property with a mandatory court appearance date in the Central Judicial Processing (CJP) Court in Hackensack.
