On 2/21/26, Officer J. Chichizola was dispatched to a local grocery store for a reported shoplifting in progress (approximately $1,000). PO Chichizola witnessed the suspect exiting the store with a shopping cart full of various unpaid merchandise and placed the subject, a 51-year-old male from Dumont, NJ, under arrest. The subject also had active NCIC warrants from Wyckoff PD, Closter PD also for Shoplifting. A search of the subject lead to the discovery of a white powdery substance that was suspected to be cocaine. The defendant was charged on a complaint warrant for Shoplifting (3rd Deg), Failure to make proper disposition of CDS, Possession of CDS and was turned over to the Bergen County Rehabilitation Center in Hackensack after being issued a court appearance date in the Central Judicial Processing (CJP) Court in Hackensack.
