On 7/10/25, Det. T. McDermott received a report of check fraud from a resident. The victim  advised that she mailed a check in the amount of $2,000; however, the check was intercepted and never reached its intended destination. Det. McDermott’s investigation identified a 27-year-old female from Bronx, NY, who attempted to deposit the $2,000 check via mobile deposit.  The absentee defendant was charged on a complaint summons for Forgery (3rd Deg) with a pending court appearance date in the Central Judicial Processing (CJP) Court in Hackensack.
