Officer J. Schwarz were dispatched to a local supermarket on the report of a shoplifting. Loss prevention was able to recover the proceeds in the parking lot; however, the suspect fled the scene prior to patrol’s arrival.  Officer Schwarz was able to determine that the suspect bypassed all points of sales without paying and exited into the parking lot with the merchandise and was able to identify the suspect. The absentee defendant, a 47-year-old male from Westwood, NJ, was charged on a complaint summons for Shoplifting (4th deg.) and was issued a pending court appearance date in the Central Judicial Processing (CJP) Court in Hackensack.
