Investigation revealed that on 08/07/2023, two suspects were captured on security cameras concealing over-the-counter (OTC) medication, valued at approximately $3,908, into black garbage bags, bypassing all point of sale and exiting the store without paying. Det. T. McDermott’s investigation determined that the suspect vehicle was used in multiple other Shoplifting incidents in Denville Twp. and Teaneck in early October. Information obtained from the aforementioned police departments helped to positively identify both suspects. On 11/14/23, the first suspect, a 25-year-old male from Brooklyn, NY, was charged with a Third-Degree Shoplifting, and the second suspect, a 19-year-old male out of the Brooklyn, NY, was charged with a Third-Degree Shoplifting. Both absentee defendants were charged on complaint warrants and were issued a pending court appearance date.
