Officers A. Mazzo, C. Murphy, and Det. T. McDermott responded to a reported smoke condition from a campfire on the Veolia Water Company Property. Once on scene, Officer C. Murphy deployed the Department drone and located the hazardous fire and suspect responsible. The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of a 38-year-old homeless male for violations of N.J.S.A. 2C:17-1B (3rd Degree) Arson and N.J.S.A. 2C:18-3 Trespassing. The defendant was formally charged on a complaint warrant and remanded to the Bergen County Jail.
