Officers J. Chichizola and T. Solimando, responded to Headquarters and received a report from the complainant that he was just chased by a known suspect with a knife at a local gas station on Kinderkamack Road. During the investigation, it was learned that while the complainant was smoking in the rear parking lot, the suspect approached and began a verbal confrontation. As the complainant attempted to walk away, the suspect brandished a small knife and began to follow him. The complainant then ran toward his vehicle, at which point the suspect also began to pursue him on foot. Also through their investigation, which also included DSgt. Kearns, it was learned that the victim retreated into the front passenger side of the vehicle and the suspect attempted to stab him with a box cutter. With the door shut, the suspect ultimately ended up striking the window of the vehicle with the blade of the box cutter and the victim drove to headquarters safely to report the matter. The suspect was identified as a 40-year-old male from Emerson, NJ, who was arrested, transported to headquarters and charged on a complaint warrant for: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons, and Criminal Mischief.  The defendant was ultimately transported and remanded to the Bergen County Correctional & Rehabilitation Center (BCCRC) pending his first appearance at the Central Judicial Processing (CJP) Court in Hackensack.
