The Emerson Police Department received a report of a Shoplifting in progress at a local retail store. Officer C. Murphy and Officer A. Mazzo arrived on scene and investigated further, determining that (2) suspects, a 48-year-old female from Dumont, NJ & a 54-year-old male from Dumont, NJ, were cutting tags and security devices from merchandise inside of the store. Both defendants were taken into custody. The 54-year-old male was charged with Shoplifting (4th) on a complaint summons and was released on his own recognizance with a pending court appearance date in the Central Judicial Processing (CJP) Court in Hackensack. The 48-year-old female was charged with Shoplifting (4th) on a complaint warrant and was ultimately transported and remanded to the Bergen County Correctional & Rehabilitation Center (BCCRC) pending her first appearance at the Central Judicial Processing (CJP) Court in Hackensack.
