On 3/29/25 Officer C. Scheidle #844, Officer K. Cullen, and Officer T. Solimando were dispatched to a local supermarket on the report of a detained shoplifter. The investigating officers obtained and admission from the individual admitted to scanning items in his electronic shopping cart, bypassing all points of sales without paying and proceeding to the parking lot where he began loading the items into his improperly parked vehicle. The individual, a 78-year-old male from Emerson, NJ, was taken into custody, charged on a complaint summons for Shoplifting (4th deg.) and issued one Borough ordinance for improper parking. The individual was released on his own recognizance with a pending first appearance at the Central Judicial Processing (CJP) Court in Hackensack and a pending court appearance date in Emerson.
