Sgt. B. Rizza was patrolling the area of the Pascack Valley Shopping Center when he observed a male shoplifting suspect pushing two shopping carts with a large amount of Enfamil Baby Formula. The suspect observed the officer approaching, abandoned the shopping carts and proceeded to jump over the fence into the parking lot businesses located on Bland Street. Numerous officers from Emerson and surrounding agencies responded to the scene and setup a perimeter to contain and locate the individual suspected of Shoplifting. Sgt. Rizza located the suspect hiding in an alleyway and effectuated and arrest of the individual along with P.O. T. Solimando. Officers also located a folding knife and suspected Heroin on the suspect. The individual, who was identified as a 30-year-old male from Haledon, NJ, was transported to HQ and charged on a complaint summons for Hindering Apprehension, Possession of CDS and Shoplifting.
