On June 25, 2025 Officer J. Schwarz responded to a local grocery store who reported that their store was a victim of shoplifting on 6/10/25. The incident was investigated by Detective T. McDermott, who was able to identify the suspect and a vehicle that was used in the commission of the crime. Det. McDermott was also able to link the vehicle to shoplifting cases in Wyckoff, NJ and Bernards Twp., NJ. The absentee defendant, a 35-year-old male from Wantage, NJ was subsequently charged on a complaint summons for Shoplifting (4th deg.) and was issued a mandatory court appearance date in the Central Judicial Processing (CJP) Court in Hackensack.
