Officer J. Schwarz was patrolling the area of the Pascack Valley Shopping Center when he observed an illegally parked vehicle behind one of the businesses.  While attempting to turn around to check the illegally parked vehicle, Officer Schwarz observed a male exiting one of the stores with two large reusable black fabric bags stuffed with merchandise. Officer Schwarz observed the suspected shoplifter start to run in an attempt to avoid contact with him.  The suspect shoplifter attempted to gain entry to the aforementioned illegally parked vehicle.  The suspect was apprehended when another suspect began approaching the officer advising that he was accompanying the arrestee.  PO Schwarz’s shoplifting investigation determined that the shoplifting suspect was a juvenile and the second suspect, 50-year-old male from Bronx, NY, was employing the juvenile in the commission of the shoplifting. The adult defendant was ultimately arrested transported to HQ and charged with one count of employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime (3rd Deg.), and one count of conspiracy to commit shoplifting (4th Deg).
