While conducting motor patrol, Officer J. Chichizola attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop of a vehicle displaying tinted windows and a suspended registration. While traveling north on Forest Avenue, the driver refused to yield to the officer’s vehicle with activated emergency lights and sirens. A decision as made not to pursue the vehicle as it was entering into Westwood. The Bergen County Public Safety Operations Center broadcasted the vehicle’s description and direction of flight. Shortly after, the vehicle was again spotted traveling South on Lafayette Avenue in Westwood.  Again, Officer J. Chichizola, with assistance of Officer T. Solimando, attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop of the suspect vehicle, which again refused to yield or pull over for the officer as it fled back into Westwood.  The vehicle was located and stopped a short time after by the Westwood Police Department. During the roadside investigation, it was determined that the driver, a 37-year-old male resident of Oradell, New Jersey, was operating the vehicle with an expired driver’s license and suspended driving privileges and had (2) active ATS warrants for his arrest: Fairfield Municipal Court – $500 and Teaneck Municipal Court – $799. Furthermore, the officers located open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle.  The driver was ultimately arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Eluding, along with numerous motor vehicle summonses. The subject was ultimately released on a complaint summons pending his first appearance at the Central Judicial Processing (CJP) Court in Hackensack.
