Officers C. Scheidle & Sgt. B. Rizza responded to a grocery store on Old Hook Road for a report of a shoplifter (72-year-old female from Woodcliff Lake, NJ) in loss prevention’s custody. Loss prevention observed the subject pay for several items and also conceal other unpaid merchandise on her person under her clothing. The defendant admitted to the officers on scene that she bypassed all points of sale and failed to attempt to pay for the concealed merchandise totaling approximately $133. The defendant was placed under arrest and searched by a female officer, who located additional merchandise secreted on the subject’s person totaling approximately $10. The defendant was charged on complaint summons for Shoplifting (DP) and was issued a pending court appearance date.
