While performing motor patrol, Officer J. Chichizola effectuated a motor vehicle stop for a vehicle bearing a fraudulent temporary registration. During the course of the roadside investigation, the driver, a 33-year-old male from Newark, NJ, gave consent to search the vehicle, which yielded multiple bags of merchandise with Marshall’s price tags on them. The driver was issued a Special Complaint Summons for Violations of Temporary Registration Certificate along with numerous motor vehicle citations. The passenger of the vehicle, a 30-year-old female from Newark, NJ was identified and released on scene with the driver pending further investigation into the suspect stolen merchandise. Further investigation revealed that the passenger was captured on surveillance video from the Emerson Marshalls shoplifting the merchandise located inside of the vehicle. The absentee defendant was charged and mailed a complaint summons for Shoplifting and Receiving Stolen Property with a pending court appearance date in the Central Judicial Processing (CJP) Court in Hackensack & the Emerson Municipal Court.
