On September 9, 2020 at 17:35 hours the Emerson Police Department received a call from a local business reporting a stolen motor vehicle from their premises. The vehicle was described as a gray Mitsubishi Lancer bearing an Illinois registration. Patrol immediately began a search for the vehicle and a description of the vehicle was broadcasted to the surrounding towns. At 1809 hours a resident advised EPD of a suspicious vehicle on Randolph Ave. The resident observed the parties removing a license plate off of the vehicle. Patrol responded and recovered the stolen gray Mitsubishi Lancer. The resident provided the officers with a video of the suspects, which happened to match the description of the parties stole the vehicle from the business. At 2158 hours, the suspects returned to the abandoned stolen vehicle. Patrol arrived on scene and found a 22 y/o male (Juan Delarosa, Queens NY) and 19 y/o female (Roxana Escamilla -Vasquez, Queens, NY) matching the suspect’s description on Clinton Street. The Delarosa and Escamilla -Vasquez stated they were “jogging” in the area. Further investigation discovered a gas can and New Jersey license plate secreted in the Delarosa’s backpack. The investigation determined that the vehicle had run out of gas, and the subjects were returning to the vehicle with the filled gas can. The parties were arrested and transported back to Headquarters. Delarosa, was charged with Burglary, Theft, Possession of CDS and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Escamilla -Vasquez, was charged with Burglary and Theft. Both parties were released pending court appearance.
